COMPROMISING MATERIAL (KOMPROMAT) ON TRUMP

Author: Scott Radnitz, Associate Professor at the Jackson School of International Studies and director of the Ellison Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Some very serious people believe Russia may in fact possess kompromat-compromising material - on Trump and is using it to blackmail him.

First scenario: If the kompromat would seriously damage Trump

UK GOVERNMENT BREXIT PROPOSAL

Executive Summary

The United Kingdom will leave the European Union on 29 March 2019. The Government is advancing a detailed proposal for a principled and practical Brexit.  At its core, it is a package that strikes a new and fair balance of rights and obligations. One that the Government hopes will yield a redoubling of effort in the negotiations, as the UK and the EU work together to develop and agree the framework for the future relationship this autumn.

REDISCOVERING THE ART OF DIPLOMACY WITH VLADIMIR PUTIN

Author: Ted Galen Carpenter, a senior fellow in defense and foreign policy studies at the Cato Institute and a contributing editor at The American Conservative.

The upcoming summit between President Donald Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin affords an opportunity to relearn the requirements of effective diplomacy. If handled poorly, though, it will underscore the adverse consequences of Washington’s rigid approach to world affairs.

NATIONALIST AND POPULIST PARTIES IN THE EU

Nationalist and populist parties are alive and kicking in Europe. Nationalist/populist parties (most, but not all, are from the far right) remain strong in Europe and could benefit from the current disarray in the European Union. Deep-rooted and popular concerns remain about illegal migration and the concentration of power in Brussels, compounded by poor governance in some European countries and disillusionment with traditional political parties. Economic problems continue in many European countries, as do concerns about globalization.

HOW THE U.S. PROPOSES TO RESOLVE THE DISPUTE OVER AUTO TARIFFS?

The U.S. Proposal : Elimination of all tariffs on automobile imports on both sides and removal of non-tariff barriers, such as regulations on the size of rear mirrors. The proposal however has strings attached: The German companies must commit to invest and create more jobs in the US.

EUROPE’S PARALYSIS

While nations like North Korea and China take advantage of Trumpian chaos to improve their position in the international order, Europe remains paralyzed. European foreign policy, particularly toward great powers, remains dependent on the American position. The European Union as a whole has no integrated or coherent strategy for managing relations with great powers, while the EU member states usually don’t take a geo-strategic approach either.

HOW TO TORPEDO WTO RULES

The Trump administration has crafted a draft bill ordered by the president  that would declare America’s abandonment of World Trade Organization rules. The bill essentially provides President Donald Trump who has argued for a better position for the U.S. in big trade pacts  a license to raise U.S. tariffs at will, without congressional consent and largely outside of the international rules governed by the WTO.
